Anybody have any experience with fuel cells for racing? Not sure which ones are of Quality, they all appear to be exactly the same in the 20 gallon variety.

Check with the sanctioning body first to see if they have requirements/recommendations.

Yup, fuel cells have all sorts of different safety features and have different certifications. You need to find out what the rules are for your track or class of racing.

Think we used a 30 gallon steel Jaz fuel cell for our offroad race truck. Worked very well. Your rules committee/sanctioning body will tell you what they want. Our stock mod class allows stock fuel tanks, comp mod does as well, Pro class just says "fuel cell required" in the rules. Some will require baffles or foam, some will not allow plastic or aluminum fuel cells, it just depends.

I would personally try to avoid aluminum fuel cells unless you have it insulated really well with rubber... they tend to crack.

I have a 22 gallon jazz cell. Sanctioning body and desired use will have rules for things like tip over protection, etc

I have an ATL fuel cell in my 65 mustang. I don't race or need to meet any requirements except basic DOT standards but they are a really good company. I only bought it cause it was a local NJ company back then. It's a 20 gallon and I've replaced the bladder once in 15 years and they did it for free. :dunno:

I talked to them about doing the dual tanks in my boat which would have been pretty much a custom job and even though I never ended up doing it, they were one of the only places who actually called me back and wanted to work with me so I have to give them a little shout out.

I use Fuel Safe in my race car. It is about 30 years old and still has the original bladder and foam. I always pump out the fuel between race weekends as they suggested and apparently that is how the bladder has held up so log. They are a good company to deal with, at least they were 30 years ago.

instead of foam I recommend plastic baffles. I'll see fi I can find where I got mine, but they're plastic tubes basically. Dont degrade over time like foam can

Would that be in a plastic tank or metal with plastic baffles?
