1989 Ford Ranger XLT 4wd swapped to a 4.0l

All I had left to do was bleed my clutch and drive it. But some things come up and I hadn't touched the thing in a week or two. I got me a new battery thinking that was the problem but it's something else. Whenever I go to turn over it just clicks at the solenoid next to the relay box. But what doesn't make sense is a used to crank over just fine.

Much appreciated

I would ensure your engine ground is clean and tight.

Any poor connection in the starting system (positive or negative) will result in the dreaded "click"

Connections are clean both - and +
The solenoid is still clicking.
Still no clue.
I doubt it needs another solenoid.

What is your battery voltage reading?

A very sassy volt meter will make short work of your issue. A starter solenoid clicks for two reasons, its broke. Or doesn't have enough voltage.

I replaced the solenoid still clicks. I'm gonna double check all connections with the starter, battery and such.

Test lights are helpful. But sometimes you need real numbers. You can get a meter at Harbor Freight or Northern Tool for less than $10. They aren't great. But usually adequate for simple automotive use. Harbor Freight sometimes has a coupon to get one for free.

These guys are right, check your connections. Look for anything loose or corroded. Check the connections with a meter maybe.

Worst case rewiring to the starter from the battery is pretty easy, and will make for a pleasant Friday night activity.

FYI spelling things with a "cc" instead of "ck" like thicc and quicc, is Gang culture. "Crips" don't use "ck" because it stands for "Crip Killer" and use "cc" instead. Unless you are "Crip" then never mind, because you already know this.

I got a meter and the wire coming from the starter reads 3.82 volts when the ignition is off. When the ignition is on the wire coming from the starter to the solenoid is -0.45 volts

The wire coming from the solenoid to the battery is -0.07 when the ignition is on
