I am planning to get one sometime this summer. The extra torque will be nice.

Apples to oranges -- 45 hp gain with 93 octane fuel over stock with 87 octane.

Like the Roush kit, only about 15 hp gain over stock 93 octane adaptive.

The warranty is a plus, as is the handheld but still a lot of $$ for the gain. Levittown Ford Parts has great price, but availability is limited. Have local Ford dealer or ASE Cert mechanic do install for warranty.

Is it just a CAI and a chip tune? I read the article, but I feel like I'm missing something.

Nope, a oiled cotton ait filter, a hand held OBD unit and a s/w license to flash the PCM with the hand held.

The Roush kit includes a different air filter box but is otherwise very similar except for the $$$ for the box and name.

Sounds like most of that extra cash is just for a warranty, which is alright i guess for a brand new car. Don't want to void your warranty with a $50 Filter and $400 box tune.

I'm not familiar with the Pro Cal 4 tool, but usually you can load multiple different tunes on them and swap them out, so at least you got that thing you can use later if you end up doing anything bigger to it.

So just out of curiosity what about E85 with a tune and other parts required for E85 use? Its normaly 80-100hp gain from using E85 normally.

The hpfp needs upgraded. The volume of e85 needed is the issue.

But the new rwd style pedestal, even the fwd style, that the upgrade hpfp rides on may bust....and that will suck.

Need a cp3 or 4 style pump for these....hard to do with an aromatic fuel though...not enough lube properties.

So....with port and direct injection...e85 and looser turbos would make unreal power.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.

E85 needs big fueling. Especially if you want to make big power. A fuel system for gasoline that would normally support 300 horse will only be able to support a touch over 200 on corn. It's OK for a race car, but I definitely wouldn't want it for a daily.

*edit: not enough coffee for me today. Can pretty much disregard my comment lol.

Your comment is on point.

You need port fuel minimum to run e85.

The pedestal that holds the hpfp for direct injection don't like a pump that will do the volume for a wild e85 tune with just direct injection.

I know the guys breaking them. Adding port injection fixes that issue.

Me doing that at home. Not likely anytime soon.

I did get a new ranger last week so I'm considering getting this in a few weeks. Does anyone have any idea what dealers charge for the installation? It looks pretty straightforward

I'm guessing here but if you figured for 2 hours of labor should be about right for the install.

I would assume they're allowing higher boost under some conditions.

I would also think that under certain conditions a longer injector pulse also with added boost pressure. Someone buy it so we can dissect its internal workings would ya...
