If the OP is even still out there, I like my AEM CAI. It has a box structure that meets the hood with a weatherstrip type gasket and forms a "corner" that's shielded somewhat from the engine bay. I guess the air flows in from the grill/headlight area. I've had it on since 2004 and I just vacuum off the cone every year or so. It's a dry cone but does have the prefilter sleeve that is also hydrophobic. Put over 130k on with it and never had an issue. I did replace the original cone filter with another AEM after about 110k. I just didn't like the looks of the stock box. I have no idea if it helped or hurt performance but it looks and sounds good to me. I put the BBK intake on at the same time so tough to tell if the CAI did anything.
