The main ingredient of nail polish remover is acetone.
Be careful, its not good for you. Read the msds.
Prove it. Using only the word "wuzzle".

A 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF in a spray bottle is the best rust penetrant for bolts that there is. Trust me on this. Just make a small batch though.

Sometimes I seem to have that result...oops....lol.
Tho I've heard that airplane glue and a plastic bag is the go to, and gasoline is cheaper.

Ahhh, I see. There's more ways than one to fall into that hole. I was rebuilding a house in TN, hadn't drank or nothing for years, maybe two a year, and suddenly I was acting drunk and didn't even realize it. I'd been painting outside trim from a ladder top, holding the paint and a ladder rung with one hand, the dang paint can right under my face, and then brushing trim above my head.
Good idea also to be careful when going from interior paints to exterior

I'd maybe think about building an electrolysis tank... if that doesn't work, citric acid might, and if that doesn't work, muriatic acid definitely will. I have used all three, the latter of which works REALLY well but is quite nasty.

We use muriatic acid at work on regular gas fuel tanks. Usually a latest ditch effort with pinholes being likely (due to the tank being that rusty)

It is leaps and bounds worse to deal with than acetone. Teenage girls have played with acetone for decades doing their nails, it smells bad but you would have to actually try for it to hurt you. Muriatic acid is just really nasty all the way around.

Nail polish remover is just acetone that smells better.

Nice… another one will live on.

The other day I pulled my next Coleman project. A Coleman CL2. I had bought this one new... and it worked when it went into storage. I know it needs mantles and a globe... hopefully just a little clean up and it will be back in service.

I have a CL2 up next, it was made the same month/year as my Ranger (2/85). It is a creampuff, I don't think it was hardly ever ran. I did update it with the spring loaded heat shield to protect the cam. Early on they had a plastic cam and heat would melt it, they later switched to metal (mine was metal) and then later on they added the shield too. In theory mine just needs mantles and fuel to run.

You got for $3? That's really cool. Is that a gas grill it's sitting on?
Yup, $3. Looked like it fireballed, the nut for the cleaning crank was leaking fuel. I broke the globe trying to clean the carbon off it, at Old Coleman Parts I snagged a un-burnt collar for $3 I think and a better looking vent for $4. I probably have more money in it than I should but it doesn't look too bad now. I got my little 400B stove at the same garage sale for $2 (and it continues to be money pit) I use the shelf of my charcoal grill for a test stand. It is a nice height to fiddle with things on and if something goes sideways it is steel.

Well it showed up today:

If I had known what I was getting into I should have done an unboxing video. @Shran did a great job packing the thing.

I stripped it down for a bug nest check. It would not build pressure so I oiled the cup. The cap leaks something fierce but it builds pressure if I plug the fill hole with my thumb.

Then I tore the cap down so I can change the gasket and called it a night.

Your CL2 sure looks nicer then mine... but I use it for years. It has some rash.

Congrats on the new one!

Noice! :headbang: I was curious if it held pressure before I sent it out so I oiled up the pump and checked the cab seal... the seal was actually coming apart, I picked out a bunch of chunks so they didn't fall into the tank. Couldn't help myself but I didn't want to tell you and ruin your fun :p
