I never really been that impressed by my sealed beams, I even bought a pair of "better" ones like 15 years ago and have tolerated them. I came across these conversion lenses on Amazon awhile back and finally got around to ordering them.

I snagged the recommended LED bulbs too.

So I opened them up and right away noticed one is missing a lot of sealer between the lens and housing. The irregularities along the top is the lack of sealant, there is a gap in the lower left corner too.

The other side looked pretty good though:

Rather than deal with exchanging it and trying to get a better one I just added sealant:

The housing feels like steel, there is a rubber boot on the back to seal it up. I didn't get a pic but there are two wires that clip the bulb into place.

This is kind of a "at your own risk" thing, there are no DOT markings anywhere on the housing. The only markings are "top" on both the boot and lens and "H4" in the center of the lens. In today's world of obscene factory LED lights I don't think anybody is really going to care but your results may vary...

Beamtech bulb:

Spec sheet on the box:

Engine is not running so the halogen is kind of at a disadvantage (I know they are brighter when the engine is running)

Low beam:

High beam:

I don't know how they pattern at night yet, I will update when I get the truck back on the road and find out.

I got a set of those from LMC some years ago, different brand, a bit more expensive, but they do have DOT markings.

I need to do something with my current bulb arrangements, so I am interested to see how those bulbs work out for you.

I wouldn't have done it if I had known about the DOT thing, someone asked in the questions part of the Amazon thing and the answer was they were DOT approved.

I am kinda excited to see how they are in the dark.

The ones I have are polished clear, not all wavy like those, or the OE sealed beams, so you get a more focused and less diffuse beam. I think I like them better, and that is a side by side comparison to my B2 that still has the sealed beams in.

With the pattern on the door the beam looks pretty focused as it is.

Eh...

While sneaking around between my garage door and the front of my truck I bumped the truck... and there was a big rattle. Come to find out both headlights are loose in the buckets, you can see how they are sitting down on the chrome trim bezel that holds them in the bucket:

So I used some weatherstrip to tighten them up.

I am still playing with the adjustments but the pattern isn't bad:

Not blinding for oncoming traffic either.

It looks bad but it wasn't. Note how my camera could still pick up the detail from the trees and moon behind the truck.

For fit/finish (or lack thereof) I give the lenses 2 stars. They seem to pattern pretty well is their only real saving grace at this point.

I give the bulbs 4 stars. A little more low beam would be nice... but that may change as I get the settings dialed in.
