I recently purchased a 2006 Ranger FX4 Off-Road. It came with 16" rims that I don't like and so did the homework and bought a set of Alcoa 15" rims off of a Level II Ranger. Should fit right? Wheels rub on calipers. Has anyone had this issue? What's the fix?

The fix is to use 16 inch rims. The 15 inch rims only fit the smaller 11" brakes, your truck has 12" brakes.

I had my 15" Alcoa's on my 06 Sport 4x4... didn't rub at all.

Did They use bigger brakes on the FX4?

I don't memorize spec's for these trucks so I went and had a look. 15" Aloca wheels were used through MY2007 FX4's.

My 11" brakes barely clear my 15" steel rims. No way the 12" brakes would fit, especially with aluminum.

I don't count birthday's anymore...just happy to be looking down at the ground instead of looking up
If you pull up a 2006 Ford Ranger Brochure, it lists an FX 4 and an FX 4 Level 2 option. Both have listed different standard wheels for their particular packages. The FX 4 lists 16 inch wheels as standard while the FX 4 Level 2 lists 15 inchers as standard. The 15 inchers were not even listed as an option for the FX 4.
Possible this has a bearing on the fitment of 15 to 16 inch wheels to the OP and his Ranger.
Brochure does not list anything as to brake size.
But, if you google up rear brake shoes for a 2006 Ranger 4 x 4, it lists two sizes, a 9 inch and a 10 inch, which indicates there were indeed 2 different brake sizes.
Front disks and calipers look to be the same for both.

They fit my 06 with 305mm rotors.

They even put them on from the factory in 06 as standard or optional for both versions of the FX4. I also seen that they could be polished or painted.

I made a mistake above... I was looking at the 07 charts when the Alcoas were standard or optional on both versions of the FX4.

The fix is to use 16 inch rims. The 15 inch rims only fit the smaller 11" brakes, your truck has 12" brakes.
Thanks for that info. That's the first I've heard that there are different brake sizes.

That's the root of my confusion. The Alcoas were optional from 2003 to 2007. Some were painted but they were all 15" with 31 x 10.5 tires. Dirtman says that there are Rangers with different size brakes. News to me.
