The part number is xl5u-90918 but I can't seem to find what it is or is suppose to do. I am replacing the fuel pump on a 99 2.5. I just want to know what this is.

My credo
I poop in the furnace.
That's the fuel pressure regulator, its rather important lol... it goes between the pump and the output line, and the other hose just drains extra fuel back into the tank.

Fyi you should replace the whole assembly (with a motorcraft unit) which would have a new one installed already...

Thanks that just looked strange when I pulled the assembly out. I am just replacing the pump and sock for now. I will replace the whole assembly in next year or two. I have a 83 and changing the fuel pump is so muck easier.

Just one at the rail. Frame pump can be deleted if tank pump is swapped out for a Walbro or Kemso high volume/high pressure unit. Kemso 340Lph works well as long as fuel pressure regulator is fresh; one currently runs mine.
