...aaaaand exactly how I knew you'd answer.

The only thing I have on my side, which you don't, is that when a manufacturer comes up with a product that is a hit in sales, or works and lasts far better than they expected, they continue using it for a loooong time. The 302 design being a perfect example of that.

The 2.9 cylinder head design certainly wasn't continued... In fact, it was redesigned once, and then DISCONTINUED.
Yeah but the colonge family as a whole was around from 61-2011 or whatever.

Also, using internet forums and a couple of supposed ford techs who pry were sloshed in a bar one night is not exactly reliable.

No one comes online to trumpet "oh my 2.9L is great and its been trouble free for 260,000 miles!"...no...they come online looking for help when a problem arises. Ill gurantee you the number of 2.9 problems you find online is roughly the same as any other engine.

Yes the 2.9s head is a weak design, but it doesnt mean it isnt still a damn good little engine. Like i said, youre entitled too yours and me mine.

The 2.9 was simply redundent and not needed. The 3.0 was smoother, quieter, etc and would work in the ranger, aerostar, windstar, taurus, whatever. It made more sense to hang onto then the 2.9, espicially considering most rangers had 4 cylinders or 4.0s anyways.

You like to ignore the fact that I've had a ton of conversations both online and in person about the 2.9's being utter shit, not to mention the tens of thousands of posts online about 2.9's cracking heads and failing in numerous other ways. I just mentioned having a conversation with a few guys at the bar one night as an example, and the fact is, you have no f'n idea whether they were sloshed or not. You're once again making assumptions to support you personal perversions towards loving a complete piece of shit engine.

Your argument means nothing. It never has. It never will. It's simply your biased opinion. All it takes is a simple Google search to prove without a doubt that the 2.9 was a HUGE failure and always will be. It's junk dude. Get used to it and get over it.

aaaand we're done here.

My piece of shit worthless opinion?

Dude you really gotta get your head out your ass. Its whatever, but i dont see any real evidence posted by you to support your obviously biased opinion. You got burned, i get it. But to go around on a misleading crusade just to somehow feel better about yourself is frickin stupid.

Over and out.

Those 40hp beasts lemme tell ya. ?
I've actually driven one of those down the back straight at Waterford Hills at close to a hundred miles an hour... in the rain.

What else you got?

I actually have a photo of myself trying to get out of the Formula V I was driving... I didn't think I was ever getting out.

Oh i know they can be built into screamers lol. But truthfully the only experence ive really had with them was an old hippie van my buddy had for a while. I seriously think ive driven lawn mowers with more oomph.

I dont really know alot about them besides they sound like my old evinrude starflite 75 lol.

Is it true though a beetle will actually float for a few minutes?

Just to be clear... that was with a 40 horse VW. You should see what I can do with a bored stroked 1600... and a turbo

You wanna float... get your self a schwimmwagen

Kubelwagen would still be my first choice for VW ownership, but damnit are those things cool.

Kubelwagen was the Nazi version of the Jeep/GPW. Strange little vehicle, and yup, very similar to the Thing.

2wd vs 4, lighter, faster, and IIRC a little more capable than jeep in everything but the most extreme stuff. Always looked they would make the ultimate Bug Out Vehicle.
