I own a 88 ford ranger that came stock with dual gas tanks, is it a special edition or something? I've never seen another one.

I have one, have seen maybe two more. System is quite complicated, if one tank goes out most people don't get it fixed, just use the other one. Where in Alabama are you?

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I think it was more common any n the full size trucks. I had an 88 F150 with that setup. Also had a 90 F350 diesel crew cab dually with dual tanks AND a toolbox/tank combo in the bed. I could drive forever between fill-ups with that thing.

Just about every fullsize from 80-96/7 had dual tanks, they were decently common on 77-79s to. 73-76s generally had suicide tanks.

Dual fuel tanks on rangers were pretty uncommon, ive only seen a couple, and i believe 88 was the last year.

Just the right size to touch the ground.

Yeah, my '94 SB F-150 has dual tanks. Well, had, the rear tank has been discontinued. It kinda needed them too. I think the rear tank is like 11 gallons and the front is maybe 13 or 14 gallons. You don't go to far between fillups without both functioning when your only getting about 15 mpg with a worn out 302.
