I was browsing through Custom Offsets Ranger gallery and came upon this gem. Though you guys would like to take a look at it.

The taller cabs of the Semi are what's best for pulling 80K pounds down the highway at 70mph.
I wouldn't think this vehicle should be allowed to control a loaded tractor trailer, tho it might get by with it as a farm vehicle. Most of the ranchers around here have largely left off with double layer tractor trailers in lieu of farm trucks pulling single layer 40 ft trailers

I like it... all except those fenders. They look like something you would find in Dirtman's furnace.

After zooming in on the pic... the welds on the rear frame work also look like poop.

Wow Sno, hek, ever truck frame I ever worked on had warnings posted all over it saying DO NOT WELD. Truck frames are not just simple steel but are treated and tempered for strength and durability. Welds destroy the temper

Ranger frames aren't heat treated... you can weld on them.

I have a hard time even calling that welding.

You can weld to a tempered truck frame, as long as it's not between the front most or rear most suspension mounts. Everything outside of that area is along for the ride and not critical... it's done everyday. Every big plow truck at work has the plow frame welded on and all the dump trucks have the rear bulkhead and the body pivots are welded right to the frame.

This is no longer a Ranger frame Sno, it's now a truck frame, whether it is original or not. One simple search led right into the American Welding Society Forum, simple quick answer to welding on a truck frame was

"Perhaps the best way to remove the sample from the frame is to use a hole saw or Hougen type drill that removes a "slug". Drill the hole through the web where is is least likely to reduce the usefulness of the frame.

I tend to agree that the best weld is no weld on a quench and tempered high strength truck frame. Think liability and the ramifications if the frame fails in service and someone is seriously hurt or killed as a result of your work."

Sure, you can push the boundaries, people been doing it forever, most times right off into the mud.
I prefer to use my better judgement (long as I can find it )

That would be cool with a custom gooseneck or something else like that. But that isn't pulling a semi trailer. Unless it can come up another foot and a half off the ground the trailer would be nose down into the truck literally. and most semi tractors weigh 17000lbs or more very rarely they weigh less.

Well it seems they've mis-named the thread then, it clearly says Semi Truck Ranger, the definition at wikipedia reads

"A semi-trailer truck is the combination of a tractor unit and one or more semi-trailers to carry freight. A semi-trailer attaches to the tractor with a fifth-wheel coupling, with much of its weight borne by the tractor. "

Lots of haters on this and I can see why but don't forget that this didn't happen over night. Someone put a lot of time and money into this so they must be damn proud of it. I wouldn't call it a semi though. I think tandem rear axle fits it better than semi.

From the ford website that I have stored on my computer at home gives specifications on where to cut to lengthen or shorten a frame, and that includes welding between the suspension points. No specialised or weld treatment mentioned. That means to me that no truck frames including rangers had heat treated or tempered frames.

Looking back at it now, that isn't a tractor trailer fifth wheel, although I think it is about the same height.
Raise that another foot and a half and it would be looking right at ya, but even a tractor trailer fifth wheel, you've got to stoop over to look at it when it's under a trailer(even when the trailer's empty)
