So my relatively new involvement in the Wheel Horse community and my proximity to that Society of Oddfellows big show (seriously, they are as bad as us, or worse) has gotten me thinking. Those guys have internet forums, we have internet forums. They have a big show every year that people come from miles around to go to. Why don't we have a big show?

WHCC got started by just two guys deciding to find other guys who collected a certain brand of lawn tractor. Why don't we do that?

We can use my back yard, or maybe I can get the school parking lot for next summer.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I'm planning on attending an event like that in Ohio in September.

TheRangerStation and all other Ranger forums have always been lacking in this area. As for me attending any shows, I've rarely trusted any of my Rangers to go very far. lol

My 2001 is vibrating so bad I'm afraid to take it very far. Needs tires, a front diff bracket rubber, leaf spring bushings, etc.. Apparently the Skyjacker FR34 leaf springs use the cheapest piece of crap rubber bushings they can put in them.

My 1987 is currently apart to add A/C.

I did use to do quite a bit of travelling in my 2001 to go pick up AC garden tractors/parts/implements, but I never went much further than Indy, Evansville, St. Louis, etc..

Sure. There can be a swap meet, and truck show.

That dude with the neon pea green Ranger/Mustang hybrid is not. That dude is forbidden.

Could be interesting. The upcoming deployment I have would probably prevent me from attending this year but maybe next year, depending when it would go down.

It's seems like you trust your 2.9l more then he trusts his 4.0 or 5.0
I trust my 5.0 to go anywhere. I just have it torn down to add A/C at the moment.

As for my 4.0sohc, it's got some high mileage for sure, and the timing chains aren't happy at all. If I could get the awful vibration out of the chassis, then I'd still take it on trips. I'm just not too sure about taking it several states away.. That's just asking for a break down where I have to spend several thousand to get it fixed/engine swapped..

I just so happen to have an engine that'll fit right in there. :icon_thumby:

We can have a parade for the 2.9L!

I joke about the 2.9, but I must say...
My 2.9l never let me down. I never had a problem with the 1 I owned. In the 110k miles I beat the hell out of it, I never had any real issues. Just a few small oil leaks. It was underpowered, but so was everything else in the 80s.

Id trust a 2.9 with a rod knock and a cracked head over a 4.0 or 5.0.

....and id bet if you pulled the plug wire to stifle that knock a bit itd still hand a low mileage 3.0 its ass in the 1/4.
