On place to check on the Bronco, that most people over look is the floor pan near the driver's seat mounting bolts. Particularly if it was ever owned by someone who was over weight. I've seen a few with the floors torn near there.

I'm reviving this post.

I'm moving ahead with this project.

I'm going to take the 4.0 and A4LD from the Ranger and swap them into the Bronco 2.

I'm going to look into swaping the front axle if it is a D35 as well (I'll have to regear it to 3.73's to match the B2).

Priorities in the mean time will be:

1. Getting the stock 2.8 running
2. Changing all fluids
3. Repalcing worn interior components (have a lead on red interior parts)
4. Fixing AC
5. Paint Job

Here is what i think will be the hardest part..... removing all the things I'll need from the Ranger.

Plan is to take a bunch of pictures of Ranger. Remove all wiring harnesses and ECM. Then start pulling the engine, radiator, trans, basically anything that will be of use in the B2.

I might do a small rebuild of the 4.0 while i have it out. Maybe even have the A4LD gone through.

Any tips from anyone? I see this project taking a few months (or years) for sure.

Not sure on the 4.0. My Ranger had the 2.9 and I kept it.

2.8 has a crazy big aftermarket following. Easy engine to build up.

2.8 has crazy big aftermarket?? All I've ever seen it the offy 4 barrel intake and cams. No headers or anything like that made anymore.

Whatever you would do to get the 2.8 to respectable levels would be accomplished by swapping a 4.0 from what I'm finding. I'm after the 4.0 torque.
