Bent axle shaft

My trucks rear passenger axle shaft is bent slightly. I know it’s not the wheel, it has to be the axle shaft. I have a 1992 2.9 v6 with the 8.8 open diff. I’m having trouble with finding the axle-shaft I need. As well as what and how much fluid I need. If anyone has some knowledge about this, that would be mulch appreciated. Also, from what I understand this is relatively easy for replace correct?

Very easy to replace. For most of us it isn't even an hour job.

The axle shaft itself is the same from a 7.5 or 8.8, but not the same left to right.

You can get new ones from Rockauto.

Fluid should be 80W-90, get 3 quarts. IIRC it takes a bit more than 2. Also get gear oil specific RTV for the cover. Permatex makes it, it comes in a green and grey tube.

I always used ultra black

Same here.

Black, gray, or red RTV all seem to work fine (factory used red on the front 4x4 axle). I would not use blue or clear RTV with gear oil though.

Those work fine if you have them, but the gear oil stuff is supposedly a new formula that should hold up better to gear oil. If I have a good tube of black or grey I will use that, but if I have to go buy some I would get the new stuff.
