That would be fun to sneak up on.

Can't decide if i would rather LS swap a first gen or manual t-case swap a second. First gens look so much better and have TTB... second gens ride nicer for long hauls, disk brakes all around and have airbags.
LS swap a 1st. The disc axle bolts in.

I didn't have to cut the tank strap on mine when I installed my manual 4406. It wasn't in the way. I guess because mine is an extended cab.
Explorers are a lot different underneath.

I have mixed feelings. I never want them on my own vehicle, but they sure do make me a lot of money.
I know on my F-150 it is a fun $200 surprise when they decide to die.

It is a perk to the second gen, not sure I would swap a drum brake 8.8 for a disk brake 8.8 over just the brakes. Later ones did have better gearing though.

At 251K miles I am just waiting for one to let go on the Expedition.

I totally would. Especially if the gears matched, and the price was right.

When I sold the 05 the guy that bought it had a 95. I almost told him I'd give him a few hundred in trade on the 95 just for the few good parts that were on it, like the rear axle.

With the average gear selections on a first gen a second gen axle would be a cheap regear.

My parents ‘94 had 3.27’s... ick.

that's where the aint care comes in :), there's noise in my front end, but at least one tire isn't round and all of them are cupped (every other lug is worn down, makes a heck of a lot of road noise), and I'm sure the outer tie rod end on the drivers side isn't great but I replaced the passenger side since it was literally scary...

these 31's were on a Jeep before the clapped out sploder, but they were noisy as soon as I put them on, didn't notice the wear or recognize it...
