My brother and I swapped out the stock 3.73 7.5 axle out of my 2009 Ranger 2wd 2.3 5 speed regular cab and installed a 4.10 7.5 axle out of a 2006 Ranger 2wd supercab that had 2,600 miles on it when it was totalled. Now my speedo reads 67-68 mph when I'm going 60 and the odometer reads 11 miles for every 10 miles I drive. I called a local dealer and they said the calibration is in the computer. Among the four dealers I called I got quotes of $110 to as much as $250 to change it. A few of the dealers sounded confident it could be done in one hour. By chance is there a tool I can rent to make this change? I have no plans to mess around with larger tires or other mods since I have several sets of extra wheels and tires for my 2009 & 2004 identical Rangers.
