I have a 99 ranger 3.0l v6 I hydro locked the shit out of it saturday night, blew the hell out of the valve, so i bought a new cyl head from the dealer, tore engine apart, slapped new head on there (along with brand new gaskets for everything) then reassembled my whole engine and its still knocking, i think it might be a stuck lifter, what do you think? The knock is not that loud, well its pretty loud but i dont consider it loud after starting the bitch after i pulled it out of the pond sat night please help guys its my daily driver i need her running straight

You need to provide more info. you may have bent a rod or a piston. Or you missed some damage?

With engine running disconnect one spark plug wire at a time, if knock goes away(or gets very quiet), on one cylinder then that cylinder has a rod issue.
A rod only knocks on the power stroke so removing the spark removes the "power" part so no knock.

Stuck lifter is more of a tapping sound.
Exhaust leak on one cylinder can sound like a knock.

Hydro-lock usually results in a bent push rod.

Your how to to check for the rod knock was spot on. Simple, old school test.
I dont think, I've had to use it in ages. But then , I haven't had an old Ford in ages either, :D

Well if you have already pulled the motor and put it back in then I would just put another good used motor in it. Just my .2 cents.

The knocking noise is just the pistons and rods wanting out, its all good LOL.

Sounds like you bent or damaged something more than just filled the engine with water. Tear it down until you find it, because if you don't you'll end up causing more damage, which at some point could leave you stranded in BFE.
