A gal at work backed into the RR corner of my 09 Ranger white longbox. I got a $1239 check from her insurance co and bought another 08 white longbox at a nearby salvage yard. I can still get the original panel fairly straight but will put the replacement box on my 09. I would like to find someone scrapping a longbox 2wd Ranger so that I can use the frame to make a trailer. I plan on putting my 09 box on it. How many years back longbed Ranger frames can my 09 box bolt on to?

1983... seriously

If you are going to make a trailer out of it, go to a local scrap yard and get a used trailer axle and a couple sticks of 4" channel iron or whatever they have that looks frame like, ranger frames are a bit beefier and heavier than needed for trailer use.

What kind of moron would build a trailer out of a Ranger bed? :D

If you don't have a welder, how do you plan on welding the hitch on?

Well, you got your answer. But agreed, you will have to weld the tongue on anyway; safe to say you could use the bed and find the c-channel and trailer axle. Might even be cheaper that way.

I did this once years ago by notching the insides of the frame just ahead of the box and then bending it in after a friend heated that portion with a torch. Then an "A" shaped hitch coupler gets bolted to the frame. All welding is then done at a local welding shop. I'll get a welder some day but don't have the money for one right now. I have always wanted to have a trailer that is an exact match to the truck that was pulling it. I have a friend that is in a wheelchair and he wants help hauling in some scrap this summer. His family used to have a farm. His dad passed away a few years ago and has a large pole barn full of stuff. My friend offered to split the $$ from the scrap hauled in. That sounds like a good deal to me since scrap is way high right now. My F250 is broke down and I don't have the money to fix it right now.
