We all saw the last Ranger off the assembly line last year. Has anyone tried to find the very first Ford Ranger Truck ever built? I think it would be interesting to see it and what ever became of it. I Googled it but no luck.

Define first Ranger? It was first used on a full size truck (think trim level). Another thought is to contact Ford, as I bet they would keep track (and I would guess keep the first of a lot of vehicles for their collection).

First RBV. 1983 model The truck that replaced the Courier. Not any F series. Not the Edsel model. Not a Texas Baseball Team. LOL

Welll.....here's the 36th truck ever built (approx. #36...don't go getting all specific on me...just have fun with the pic & enjoy)

There's nothing like seeing a "living example" of history :yahoo:

Why do I label it as a Ranger......cause the antique body will fit exactly on the '89 Ranger chassis and bumper-to-bumper is within 1 inch ...all you need are higher body mount brackets to allow for the "dip" in the modern chassis

I think the first ford ranger was a concept by ford lol, they are generally destroyed after the vehicle is released, and seldom driven beforehand. the first one to come off the assembly line probably is owned by an employee of ford, usually they get first dibs on the new vehicles (the corporate bigshits).

Hard to say but people didn't buy trucks as cars back then so it was probably worked hard its entire life and parted out/crushed. I doubt a corporate employee owned if and if they did they probably wouldn't have kept it for more than a year before trading it in for a new model. Corporate people tend to stick with higher end vehicles not base model work vehicles.

We used to have 1983 ranger with a 1982 build date.

It was 2wd with stamped steel beams. They were not cast or forged.

It was a 4 speed stick with a carbed
