78 f250 4speed+np205...what bell housing?

The money would spend to convert the GM engine to anything worth swapping I might s well find the right engine....I really dont want to go carb!!!!!!! here is a zillion on line...half of them are F.I engines converted to carb...ugh

The only reason Im asking is because I have found 3 4.6s with ECU and harness for cheaper then I can find a 5.0 f.i without any wiring. I am really not wanting anything to do with the 4.6 but I was just wondering in case.

My only bet as of now is 5.0 out of 91 grand marquis which sounds like its going to be a grandma tune engine. Ill need to find an ecu and get the auto programming flashed off it.

Look at the 94-97 5.0's from pickups and vans. These are the same long block as the 94-95 HO motors, except for the slightly smaller F4TE roller cam, which was also used in the 96-2001 Explorer/Mountaineer 5.0. The F4TE cam specs like this: 256/266* advertised duration with a .422/.445 lift. Use it with 1.7 Cobra rockers and the lift goes up to .445/.473. LSA is 116 The HO cam specs are 276/266 (or 276/276, depending on where you find the specs) with a lift of .445/.445 and an LSA of 115.5. You should have no problem finding a pickup/van 5.0. Nothing wrong with carbing these motors, carbs work extremely well with the F4TE cam, best I've ever had a carb run in fact.

trust me Ive been looking for any 5.0s. The cheapest I found complete running with ecu was 700.

Are you in a metropolitan area? Head out to the small towns near by, you should be able to pick a running 5.0 up for around $400.

Two years ago i sold 2 for scrap weight....

haha no man im in the boon docks. My town has like 250 people if that in it. Im going to try some junk yards this weekend and see what I can get. The 4.0 died when I hit a bump yesterday so now I am trying to find this out semi quick. Hit the railroad tracks and lost spark and fuel...all the fuses and relays are fine.

Did you check the inertia kill switch?

On an impact it will kill the fuel pump, located on the passenger side on the floorboard under the dash.

Yea I checked that within the first 10 seconds. My fuel pump doesnt turn on and no spark. I haven't had much time to mess with it because it is sitting in my work lot.
