this is the 01-05 tail light design

as u can see it has only 1 bulb for stop/turn and running lamps.
if u make a new hole for an extra bulb. one of them will outlight the other one, since both bulbs will share the same reflection chamber.

now. 06+ tails do have an empty chamber. right down the reverse light.
its where the reflector is located

since its a separate chamber u can drill a hole to put a bulb and it will work fine.

that way u wont have to convert your 3 bulb system into a 2 bulb system.
93-99 were 3 bulb. 00+ are 2 bulb.
the 00 tails are the same as 98-00 in design. but the amber section is red on them and has no bulb. so those will work in a 3 bulb system just fine

oh awesome, great info and explanation. i much prefer the look of the 06+ tails over any tail light for the ranger, much cleaner looking IMO.
