ok so the other day i was changeing out the brakes on my truck and for the life of me couldnt get the rear drums off after about an hour of fighting with it i finally got them off. the right side was pretty easy after i got the adjuster turned all the way in but the left side adjuster would not budge but once i forced the drum off i saw this and new why....... hopefully soon i can get it converted to disc in the back so i wont have this issue again

this bad boy is rusted completely solid :annoyed:

You live in the salt-belt? My grandpa Celebrity was the same way. It took my full fury anger strenght just to break off one drum.

Props dude. I've seen guys break drums in two over stuff like that. That is why you always cut the drums when you put new brakes on. It's not fool proof, but it makes it a lot easier.

It is also fun beating discs off of a rig when they seize on the hub too...

The last time I took them off was because the disc surface had gotten some rust pits in the braking surface and made a crapton of noise and drove me nuts.

Six of one, half a dozen of another... nothing is perfect :icon_twisted:

With drum Brakes you should pull the drum off, blow it out with air and check the adjusters when you rotate the tires.
An extra 15 minutes work then will save you a lot when you have to replace the shoes later.

One time one of my dad's rotors cold-welded itself to the hub. 2 hours of torch, 3 hours of hammer, 2 hours of air hammer, and 1 hour of cursing my grandpa's neighbor who wrenched for 40 some years wandered over to see what all the noise was about, tapped it (not the full out pounding I was doing, just some light taps) and it popped loose.

Discs aren't always fun either.

I hate when members can't put post in the correct forums and us moderators have to constantly move the threads.

That is a know wear item in the drum brakes. If you get a spring kit when you redo the drums, it comes with those new.
