I think I screwed the pooch !! After reading as much information about changing the plugs in a 96 Ranger, I decided against removing the intake and paid dearly !!:bawling:

I sheared off a plug in the block !!

Can I "Tap" it out ?? If I can, how do I prevent the remants of the plug going into the block ??

Any help here would be most appreciated

Thanx !!!

If it is broke off flush with the threaded portion, you probably already have ceramic peices in the engine.

If the hex portion is still available to grab, keep trying.
p.s. the intake is an easy removal in my opinion.

I hope to post a pic of the remnants of the plug tomorrow but to descrbe it is like this.

As you look into the plug hole, I can see the center of the plug, possibly the metal conduit that runs to the firing center.

The plug itself looks like a worn down pencil

By the way, I know im pushing it, but how much damage would it do ??

You got the intake off now, right? Can you get a socket on what is left?If not drive a easyout in it and see iff if will come out that way. They make a nice easyout that screws in left handed. If that doesn't do it,get a drill a little smaller than the threads in the head, and drill the center out and then either tap the threads or clean the remains.Take a magnet and clean around the top of the piston and blow it out all you can with compressed air.take a look in there and make sure you don't have any pieces left then crank the motor over several times to blow out the dust.Or take the head off and do it.
