2" axle pivot drop brackets


I have the drop brackets also with my leveling coils. What I found out that though it was able to be aligned that you can't get it perfect. You can get it really close to where it won't wear the tires noticeably faster bur it still isn't perfect. As far as the drop pitman arm goes, mine seems fine without it.
 
Apparently that shop has no idea what the hell they're doing. I had the Skyjacker 132X and 2" coil spacers installed on my truck at same time with the factory drop brackets (mind you I am supercab w/ grill guard). It was aligned using aftermarket bushings. Talk about maxing the suspension out, but it worked fine....till the polyurethane spacers shit out on me. That was enough reason for me to upgrade to the 6" Lift :headbang:

You sure that not being able to "get it perfect" isn't because you don't have the pitman arm?

There's no reason at all it cannot be made at least as good as it is factory.

Is there a 2" drop pitman arm you recommend? Many out there appear to be for 4" or more lifts. James Duff is the only one that seems it's made for a 2-3" lift.
 
The pitman arms they list for the 4" lifts are the same one Ford used on the highrider trucks. The arm I have had the ford Logo Embossed on it and it's the same drop as one my buddy had gotten from Rough Country.

I took my truck back yesterday to 4WP for my free (within 30 days) re-alignment. I couldn't wait 7 days, let alone 30. It was pulling hard to the right.

So I had the pleasure of taking my truck to the outsourced "Expert Alignment Shop" and explain the camber bolts to them myself. They seemed to grasp the idea and did, in fact, change their positions.

I have to say that it is as aligned as it has ever been, and the camber issue is virtually gone. It looks fine to me now. Just having the tires balanced today at a shop I trust to get rid of some vibrations in that 50-60mph range.

I took my truck to alignment shop A after I put the leveling coils on my truck. They said they aren't able to align it. Then took it to alignment shop B. Alignment shop B said they have never had a Ford TTB that they couldn't align. Everything looked great afterward and it drove great also. I took my truck wheeling and the passenger side bushings slipped. Took it back to alignment shop A, because I like them better and they are closer, and they then explained what alignment shop B did. They said they could align it again like alignment shop B did but said that it really isn't done right doing it that way. That is the reason I had the 2" drops installed on my truck.

Why, because the bushings arn't installed at 0*? There's nothing wrong with running bushings that provide adjustment in camber, especially the fully adjustable ones that allow you to dial in both camber and caster to spec.

Those are the ones they used, the ones that adjusts caster and camber. They could get camber right on but not caster. Caster can adjusted close but perfect. I was told is that it's because camber was off 4 degrees. The dual adjust bushings can only be adjusted properly if camber is off 3 degrees or less.

It may be hard to tell, be it really is better now. ESPECIALLY the passenger side.

Thumbs up to Mike at 4 Wheel Parts for being patient with me and sticking with it until it was done right.

Now... 31"s are definitely coming!

Thats interesting, is your truck regular cab? I had both the 132X springs AND coil spacers and I was still within 4* degrees and got aligned fine. Remember, caster doesnt have to be "perfect". While being 4-5* degrees is optimum, you can deviate slightly unlike camber and it wont affect tire wear. The spec is between 2-7* degrees.

Awesome glad you finally got it aligned right, it seems these days tech are not taught very well in the alignment department anymore. I am a certified tech and i can tell you i have never had issues aligning them, fustrating learning how the ttb works but after you get it you can align them very well. I Also find a very slight negative camber on a lower setup truck works very well also despite what my training tells me lol. As for the strength of the tuff country i pound my explorer all the time, including air-time with them and they are very strong hadn't had an issue with them yet, if you want some info on my custom 4"lift let me know i am glad to help.
