You say you don't use the truck you have now, as a truck hardly, so is this SPS? (small peter syndrome):icon_confused: No seriously why would you swap to a bigger truck that won't get used as a truck?
How about the mileage between the two? (not gas mileage) What is it about due for (your adding expenses there), not mentioning the extra volume of gas, and what about insurance?
As to the "never used as a work truck" WTH does he define as work? Did he yank people out of ditches for free, haul all kinds of toys on the weekend (wear and tear) and just not do this for work? How does he know what the Dr. who previously owned it did with it?
I think you should look at him as an example. He is TRYING TO TRADE FOR A SMALLER truck, with the options he needs (what you already have).

Do you have/drive another vehicle daily, that this will only be used when needs be?

I DD a Ranger, with a 2.3, and my recently aquired (free) secondary vehicle is a GMC slt (01 xtended cab, stepside). It is fine, (haven't used 4wd yet) but so far the only thing it has made me wish I had was an extended cab on the Ranger. My view, put your wallet back in your pocket, and put that money towards a future playtoy.

btw where is upper island cove lol

Given all the angles I've read here it looks like you don't need the truck. An '03 B4000 is a nice truck and according to you it serves all the purposes you need. Don't get me wrong a dually is cool, but a dodge with the (previously mentioned) notoriously bad transmission and gas powered engine just doesn't seem like a good set up. You don't need the pulling power and obviously don't want the problems that most people are predicting. Stick with the Mazda for now.

Not sure if you know where Bay Roberts is but Upper Island Cove is right next to that, they are both about an hour out side of St. John's. Where are you at on the rock Boggin?

I can honestly say that I am suprised at the overwhelming support to keep the Mazda but I do understand why you guys say that I should keep it vs. get the 1 ton, and like I said before I do love the Mazda she is my first vehicle and to trade her away would be like a betrayal.

yea well if you dont absolutely need the 1ton, keep the mazda. and i know where bay roberts is, and im in lewisporte, right in between grandfalls and gander about an hour from eachother. me and jon were talking about a trip in probably 2 years, going in woods roads around grand falls, my rig and his will be on his 30'er, you goin?

The Dodge is not a diesel, making a bit of white (black?) elephant. I remember a conversation at the welding supply place about a decade ago where a guy with a dodge 4x4 1-ton was talking about various front end pieces that wore out. Also, the manufacturer is a bit weak, especially for the heavy truck line. The 1/2 tons are new. The Durangos are gone. Support for a 14-year old one may get a little weak.

I wouldn't worry about getting parts for it, they made a bunch of them in that time frame.

I vote that it will be a gas sucking pig that isn't really needed in this situation. Being a dually, I don't even think it would be that great for a status symbol even... personally I think duallies are kind of ugly. :dunno:

I wouldn't get any dodge unless it had the 5.7L or the Cummins personally. and Yeah My friend had never ending problems with his, Front end wore out (and they are Hella Expensive to fix), 4x4 broke all the time he needed it (rangers rock for pulling 1 tons out).

I don't get why you concidered getting a 1 ton if your never gonna use it? A for sure the v10 is gonna get crap for gas mileage. I will admit driving my F250 Diesel around make me feel BA but it sucks when you gotta drive it in parkinglots and stuff... NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo.

Just keep the mazda, its apparent you love it and don't wanna get rid of it so just keep it. Save up the money to get a 1 ton later if you want one so you can drive it when you feel like it.
