I have an 89 2wd ranger. I recently put a bit of lift on it and the steering is a bit out of wack. My tie rod end are upside down compared to 4x4 resulting in lower steering linkage. My question is if it is possible and safe to just put them on top like the 4x4 is to raise the steering some. I know I 'should' get a drop pitman arm, but I would like to save some money if this is possible.

tie rod ends have tapered shanks. you cant flip them over because the taper on the TRE wont fit into the taper on the steering knuckle.

you might look into using a ream from the top for 1 ton tie rods and have the larger tie rods re-threaded for your adjuster sleeves
