Buying a Ranger this week, few questions first!

Hi guys. I joined a few months ago looking for info about lifting and fixing up my mazda, and pretty quickly shifted gears realizing that was a bad idea. Instead, I've come to the conclusion I'll just buy a new Ranger (and then lift it in a few months when I have saved up some cash). Going to go make the purchase this weekend, but I had a few questions first.

Main problem is, the internet seems useless for finding info about lifting a 2WD 2009 Ranger. I don't want to base my choice solely on the idea of lifting it later, but if there is anything I should know ahead of time I'd like to.

I'll be getting a 2009 4x2 Supercab V6. It may or may not be the "Sport" model. I don't really care for the step bars or "Sport" badgings (and don't know what the other differences may be) but I have a friend that owns a dealership so I'm going to take what he can best provide as long as it meets my basic desires.

So now that I've rambled... what lifts are available for a 4x2? And would it being a Sport (or not) play a factor in the ability to lift it (or cost to do so)?

I just want about 3", I'm eventually going to put on some 33s and glass front fenders, so I don't need much more than that.

Anything else I should know about the 2009s before buying one?

Thanks for your time!

Lifts for the torsion bar rangers are pricey.

If you're only going to do 33s, you may not even need a lift with glass front fenders.

If you do want a lift, a body lift would be most cost effective to get the bigger tires on there.

Around $150 vs around $1500 for a suspension lift :shok:

He's talking about buying a 2wd guys. You have more options and they are cheaper. Check out the suspension section.

I thought of that, but for work and recreation I think I'd be better suited with an actual suspension lift.

I'll check there now, thank you. I had searched the forums, but I guess I used the wrong keywords.

I would suspect they would be about the same... because it is still a t-bar suspension just without the 4x4 parts.

You could get an 09 Edge, if they make em? Then you will get the 4x4 suspension i believe. And a body lift would be a good cheap way to retain stock ride and stuff...
