But i have at least $3,000 more than $11,000 into that ranger so i would be taking a noticable money loss =(I would say a fair price to ask would be start at 9500-11,000 and go from there but be ready to negotiate the price down if need be
vehicles are almost always a depreciating asset, when you drive a brand-new vehicle off the lot, it loses at least 15% of its value that instant the tires hit the road and it just continues from there. You seldom make money on vehicles, the only case is if it's some rare exotic or classic / antique carBut i have at least $3,000 more than $11,000 into that ranger so i would be taking a noticable money loss =(
So i will not get that $3,500 to $4,000 that i put into that ranger when i sell it is that what you are saying ? I would like to get all the money i can out of that ranger when i go to sell it i looked it up yesterday and my ranger model can get $13,999 ??vehicles are almost always a depreciating asset, when you drive a brand-new vehicle off the lot, it loses at least 15% of its value that instant the tires hit the road and it just continues from there. no you more than likely will not get that money back out of it. IMHO anything over 10 grand would be a bonusSo i will not get that $3,500 to $4,000 that i put into that ranger when i sell it is that what you are saying ? ^This. Much much cheaper optionI'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and say a non-tinted windshield new at a shop is probably in the $500 range. Side windows I'd source from a scrapyard for $100 apiece - they might be $250 at a car glass place. So if you could live with no tint looking forward and sideways, probably in the $1000 range?![]()

x2. for example, I did a quick lookup for what KBB puts private party for that ranger in my area, it was about 6-6500Making money or breaking even on a vehicle when selling it is a very rare thing. Vehicles are money pits but a necessary expense.
If the window tint is the only thing keeping you from liking the truck, replacing the windows with untinted ones might be the better direction to go but the final decision on what to donis going to be up to you.
As others have stated, the best way to figure out what a good asking price is going to be is to look your truck up on Kelly Blue Book (KBB), input the information on it's condition and the miles it has to get the private seller price. That will give you the best possible price you can get but expect the potential buyer to offer less.
Expecting to get what you paid for the truck and the amount of money you put into it in repairs and mainteance is unrealistic and is almost never going to happen. You missed that window when the prices for used vehicles spiked just after covid and the availability of new vehicles was very low. With used vehicle prices getting back to more or less normal levels, the chances of someone agreeing to pay around $14,000 are very, very low.
