Hello everyone. I had toput headgaskets on my 4.0 OHV . when I got it together it fired right up and runs great, however after it warms up I will not restart till it cools for 3 hours or so. I have been trying it out. I have replaced the crank trigger, andthe coil pack with no help. My question today is ,, does the cam sensor control the injectors?? today I checked it out and it still has fire so it has to be fuel. has anyone ever went through this?? thanks

My green Ranger had a problem with not starting when warm. Between a plastic fuel filter and a weak pump, yeah, it wouldn’t start well if it was warm and being that mine was a 2000 with the “returnless” fuel system (it returns off the filter and not the fuel rail, it would essentially vapor lock. With a return style system like yours (since I’m assuming you’re talking about the 94 Ranger in your sig), you should be able to try cycling the key a few times to push fresh fuel up into the rail to see if that’s the problem, unless your fuel pressure regulator is bad. Fuel pressure tester is a good way to check what’s going on too.

Cam sensor doesn’t control the injectors exactly, but it does control the timing for injectors and spark. I had a problem with my 5.0 because the synchro part of the cam sensor assembly was bad and it was throwing everything out of whack when the RPMs got up there.

Do you have any codes?

Thanks for the reply,, first off it is my 94. I'm had a pressure tester on it. fuel pressure is solid 30psi, if reved when running 45. (book calls for 35 to 45). after the engine warms up it still runs great, shut it off and it will not even fire, but it does have spark. I'm guessing the injector stop firing when warmed up and is shut down. after about 3 hours it will start but run rough for a second and smooth out. I havent checked the code caus it's not obdII. have to short out a conecter and read flashes.. I have replaced the crank trigger, the coil pack, and just ordered a cam sensor.
when it does run it runs sweet.
