1994 Ranger 5spd mt, 4wd, 4.0. I got them old rabs blues. ABS light on. Is all data the way to go to obtain circuit 531 and circuit 512 schematics and troubleshooting? I'm at step R4 checking for ground fault from the fsm instructions from another site . I have one (ground fault) seemingly on circuit 531. A ground fault. Is the modulator valve part of that circuit? I replaced all of the brake lines from it to the rear wheels. It looked nasty. Got it apart by cutting off the brake line flush, loose juice, and a 1/4'' impact driver. Flushed everything really well. The brake system was open for over a year. I have outstanding pedal, and can lockup all 4 wheels in the grass. .If someone can steer me to the schematics it would be nice. How does the modulator valve with it's solenoids work? I ordered one off of ebay from a southern state. Can someone explain 2nd gen RABS? Is there a ohms value for the sensor coil at the tone rig in the differential? Stay well.

What site are you using for a trouble shooting tree? I believe I have narrowed down mine to a bad ABS valve but would love a trouble shooting tree for the RABS in mine to be sure I have found the correct part causing the issue. I don't have a service manual for Our '94's but I have the EVTM.

C105 is the Bulk head connector at the fire wall.
C284 is the connection in the steering column

Circuit 512 T/LG wire, goes from instrument cluster to ignition switch then to C105/bulk head connector then to Fluid level switch.
Circuit 531 DC/Y wire goes from break fluid level switch to to Brake warning diode/ resister assembly in the instrument cluster.
Ground G103 is located Top Center of Left Hand Fender Apron.

Sorry I can't help more

i would bypass the rabs valve... poke the rabs light.....in the eye....with a stick....adjust the brakes.

Ford, Mazda, and Mercury vehicles based on the Ranger platform will have similar architecture.

I remember v-8s in the Mercs.
Has anyone here used either Mitchel or Alldata for the schematics?

Electrical and Vacuum Trouble shooting Manual

I always use the manufactures wiring diagrams.

I'm sure the aftermarket stuff is close... they're generated from the factory stuff.

A local guy is going to sell me a chilton for $10 that he claims has the diagrams. and a good diagnostic tree for the rabs.I should have gone OEM, but they want to ship a cd and this might be the fastest way to get information.
Paper on flea bay was 80 pesos American. I'm doing a favor for an 80 year old guy I know and money is tight.
I go with an FSM if is a vehicle I intend to keep.

Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.
I found tucked away a five volume set of 1995 Ranger service manuals from two decades ago.
Looking at electrical and vacuum shooting manual as we type.
It is complex and will take some time to absorb, but does cover rabs2

Just be aware there were some changes in the '95 model from the '93-'94 models. Mainly interior like the dash and instrument cluster changes, they added OBD2 and airbags.

Be cautious when looking at the wiring diagrams as there were changes there also. The service manual should give the diagnostic tree for the RABS. The tree should not have changed between the years though.

EDIT: FYI Chilton manual is useless for RABS diagnostics, I have one. The wiring diagrams are there but the EVTM (Electrical and Vacuum Trouble shooting Manual) is much, much better. As a plus with the EVTM you can look up connection and ground locations where other manuals do not have that.

Agreed; MUCH, MUCH better.

Plus, I've developed a fondness for coloring the location view drawings with crayons. Makes 'em look just like a real picture, and it's sooo relaxing.

My therapist thinks that it's a great idea, too.

Zippity do dah.
Deoxit on all relevant connectors after using contact cleaner.
In the back field several four wheel lock up stops. Reconnect all connectors and no more abs light staying on.
If that solves it I will have an untested ford brake modulator control for sale for $40.00 shipping included.
Just need two peanut bulbs for the rear bumper tag lights to pass inspection.

what I found on the bottom shelf of the bookcase out of sight behind some stuff.
1995 explorer evtm
1995 aerostar evtm
1995 ranger evtm
1995 Aerostar Ranger explorer powertrain,drivetrain
Powertrain control/Emissions Diagnosis 1995 Service Manual
1995 Aerostar, Ranger, Explorer Body Chassis Service manual. I used that for RABS
And a Haynes ford explorer 1991 to 2001 Service Manual.

Broncc thank you,Robbie D, BGunner, Uncle Gump, Mechrick, and Bobbie Walter for their kindness and assistance
