I am converting my 2000 3.0 automatic Ranger over to a 302 and a T5 five speed - my question stems from my receiving a free set of clutch/brake pedals from an earlier model - seeing photos of the pedal mount frame being different, can the automatic brake pedal & shaft simply be removed from the 2000 pedal frame and the standard brake clutch pedals take their place? I ask because on my Ford Maverick, they did - thank you, Bob
 
I moved this to the transmissions section.

As far the question, my impression is that the support brackets are different but I've only owned Rangers with manual transmissions until my 2019. So I have no basis of comparision.
 
You'll probably have to just try it. I'd say 40% it just works, 40% not even close, and 20% that something can be done with minimal work... Good luck and let us know what you find.

Even though the frame will not work, I still might be in that 20% range - looking at the pedal assembly for the automatic brake pedal, it mounts on the horizontal shaft close to the middle of a long shaft - it might be the same length or close to the length of the clutch/brake pedals when they are installed together - it uses a smaller firewall plate and I have to look tomorrow to see if Ford only built one plate no matter if it was a standard or an auto truck because I need the part of the frame casting that retains the clutch slave cylinder - it would seem more economical to just make one frame and just leave out the cylinder if the build sheet might have called out for an automatic transmission

I have another question relating to this transmission swap and that is what method does a 2000 Ranger use to release the clutch? A cable or some sort of a hydraulic set up?

Hydraulic. Make sure you study up on how to bench bleed the master cylinder.

The reason that I asked is, I just bought a T5 yesterday that has a clutch fork to work the throw out bearing - since I have to get a set of pedals anyway (currently an automatic transmission), I'm now thinking maybe it is better to just get a cable controlled pedal assembly to match what I have - can a hydraulic throw out bearing simply replace one that was made for a cable? Thanks

That, I have no idea. I suppose you could rig up a pulley system to do it but everything I've had with a clutch was hydraulic. So, I don't even know what a proper cable system would look like.
 
I tried mish mashing a 86 clutch pedal onto a 90 automatic set, didn’t work out. In 98 it changed again you might luck out.

Thinking as this T5, bell housing & clutch fork came out of an 86 Mustang, I might try looking for an set of 86 Mustang pedals

ETA nope just now read that part.
 
Here is my current status of my automatic to T5 debacle - I was given these pedals and was told that they came out of a Ranger - I have seen photos, on line, of the bulky aluminum frame, noted that it id a Ranger item, but no photos of it assembled like this or an installed in truck photo - being that my truck is an automatic, and has a much smaller single pedal frame, I am hoping that my clutch/ brake frame will replace the existing one - now the World Class T5 that I just bought, uses a cable to work the throw out bearing with a clutch fork - now the problems still existing & my question stems from where would the cable go in this frame & through the firewall and am I still missing pieces like any type of eccentric for the cable? Any help will be appreciated - thank you

Iirc that frame is for a hydraulic system. A rod goes from the pedal to a clutch master mounted on the firewall.
 
Not certain, but think all rangers are hydraulic. Hope someone else has more knowledge, I'm interested too.
