Are 3.0, and 3.8 Crankshaft pulleys the same?

Hi folks,

I need to replace the harmonic balancer on my 2003 3.0 V6. but since I'm in there, I started looking into getting an underdrive pulley and I remembered my buddy has 3.8 Mustang (93, I think?) he's left to rot in his yard, turns out he/his dad added a number of bolt ons including a 20% underdrive pulley I believe from BBK.

I don't have the part in hand, but looking online they seem to have the same bolt-pattern to attach to the harmonic balancer, but I don't have them side by side to compare, and I can't seem to find any information online aside from the fact that they're both 6 groove pulleys.

Does anyone know if the 3.8's pulley will fit up? And if anyone can think of some parts that might be worth snagging for application to a 3.0 feel free to let me know, I think there are a few parts that are compatible between the two.

I'm going to say no due to different engine designs. 3.0L Ranger was a Vulcan, 3.8L Mustang was an Essex.

Easy way to check would be to look at Rock Auto parts listings for stock replacements and see if the same one fits both engines. If I'm right, you've already got the replacement parts for your engine pulled up.

I'm not not aware of of any other parts comparability, but I've never paid a lot of attention to either engine.

So I haven't been able to find any obvious cross compatibility, and as it turns out no one sells original crank pulleys for either engine, because I imagine they basically never have to be replaced. The few places that list used ones, or OEM either have no images, or no specifications.

I remember reading a thread some time ago about someone using pistons, crankshaft and something else from a V6 mustang in order to stroke their 3.0, but I've tired and since then cant seem to find the thread.

I don't know if different things are listed on Rock Auto when you're browsing in Canada compared to the US even though it all ships from the US.
