I just bought a heavily modded 2004 Ranger 2wd, 3.0L, with an automatic transmission. I'm facing a transmission issue, right now.
Here's what I am finding:
- At first, it was just fine. I shifted a little hard going into 2nd, but not too bad.
- I turned off the engine to go into the store, and when I went to drive off, it wouldn't shift right.
- When in drive, it will not shift to 2nd gear while driving.
- If I manually put the gear selector in 2nd, it will shift to 2nd.
- It shifts and moves in reverse just fine.
- I made sure the right fluid is in it.
- The speedometer doesn't work, and I never saw it work. I just bought the truck.
- I found that this truck is supposed to have the 5R44E transmission.
- When I looked for the speed sensor, where it was supposed to be, there was no speed sensor. Looked all over and there are no signs of a speed sensor, or where it should go.
- The case is stamped k95gt-7006-bbr. I'm not sure what model that is, but when I looked it up, the speed sensor is located on the top near the back end. There is a vent in that location.
- I have a green 2-pin plug and a black 2-pin plug dangling down. I searched all over, can't see where they go.
