I picked up a piece of junk with an inferior engine. I’m not even sure it exists, but if anyone has a bell housing for a TK trans that bolts to a 2.3 I would like to purchase it.

If no one has one you could try www.car-part.com.

....and the 2.3 isnt inferior....the 3.0 is.:ROFLMAO:

I know the 2.3 isn’t inferior, that’s why I want a bellhousing to use that engine. The bell housing I have is currently attached to a 2.8 which is only one notch above the 3.0
Just dont diss the 2.9 we'll get along fine :ROFLMAO:

The bellhousing is not a separate piece, you'll need the whole transmission.

A TK4 with an integrated bell housing? learn something new every day.

i’m looking for one without an integrated Bellhousing, I don’t need the entire trans.

Are you still looking for one? I have a spare tk4 from an 83 2.3 4x4 I used to have. I can pull the bell housing off for you. It's yours if you pay the shipping or wanna come pick it up from Missouri lol

BS.. only thing wrong with the 2.8 was the emissions crap they were saddled with. Little work and it's a great engine. 3.0L will never be close.

Only way a 2.3L is going to be better is if you put whirley bits on it and force feed it air. So, if you're going to make those claims, you better get busy swapping in those whirley bits too.

i’ve got this personal thing against distributors and pushrods. It may not be a popular opinion, may not be justified, I just don’t like them, we get to like what we like.

I’m also fond of the 2.3’s self preservation with its timing belt. I’ve owned 2.8’s and 2.9’s in B2’s, my rangers have all been 2.3’s so far. I’ve never thought gee I wish I had a 2.8 or 2.9 in my rangers.

This guy has the right idea.

I assumed that referring to a turbo as "whirley bits" would have conveyed the non-serious nature of my post.

I've owned 2.3, 2.8, 4.0 OHV, and 5.0. I've driven 2.9, 3.0, and 4.0 SOHC when dad owned them. I've seriously got no problems with any of them, they all have their place and they all work well if properly maintained and used within proper expectations.

I am partial to the 2.8 since my first truck was one and it was a bad ass for what it was, wasn't exactly a stock 2.8L though. Totaled the truck not long after a rebuild, but I never found or decided on a new home for it. May be toast at this point.

I got the 2.3L in my latest first gen purchase. I haven't had it running yet, but I intend to keep the 2.3L in it and likely build it into a 2.3T.

Just ditched the 4.0L in my 99 for a 5.0L and it's in process of getting a fresh engine built for it.
