Wiring Harness questions/issues


Yes, thats look like the transmission part of the manual harness

OSS sensor, reverse light plug and rear O2 sensor plug

With the exception of the reverse light plug all the other wires and connectors are there on the automatic harness
 
So the harness that is on the engine should be able to just plug into the transmission then or?
Also I do have another, odd question with this project

Just trying to ping ya again here to see if I could go and splice the wires together, or is there something else I need to do?
 
Alright sorry for the long delay. Work got really hectic. But here's the part of the harness I was able to snag. Hopefully this can work, and if so what wires do I need to put this into?View attachment 67311
After looking back and comparing the two, and I'm seeing that I mainly need to figure out what the 8 pin connector does, and a way to merge/splice the reverse lamp sensor and the, I think, speed sensor into the harness. Would the same colored wires in the automatic harness be the same as the ones in the manual harness? I've been trying to find a diagram of both harnesses, but with no luck. Not too sure if I'm searching the wrong things or just looking right past it
 
There is no reverse light sensor, its just a switch, on/off that passes 12volts to the bulbs at the back

purple(vt) / orange(OG) striped wire is 12volts IN from fuse
Black/pink wire is 12v OUT to bulbs

Yes, this shows them to be the same color wires on both manual and auto

So then how who I get that to work then? And what about the output shaft sensor?
 
OSS(speed) sensor, which you need, will have a dark blue/yellow stripe wire, also grey/red wire
ISS sensor, which you don't need, will have grey/orange wire along with grey/red, most sensors share that grey/red wire, just FYI

DTR connector will have a Purple/orange stripe wire from Cab fuse 2, that key on power for Reverse Lights
There will also be a black/pink stripe wire, that's OUT to Reverse light bulbs

You will need to wire those 2 wires to the 2 wire connector for reverse light switch on the manual trans, order doesn't matter, switch is either open, no lights or closed lights on


On the DTR connector will be a Pink Wire, thats from cab fuse 24, only has 12volt with key turned to START
And a Tan/red wire, that's OUT to starter relay in engine fuse box
You can just twist the ends of these wire together, to by-pass Neutral switch, or run then to the Clutch switch in the cab so starter motor will ONLY work when clutch pedal is pressed down all the way
After finally getting to work on it, I had some more issues that I had to solve before I got back to this. Mostly being getting the engine to sit properly in the engine bay, and work being work.
But after looking at this again and I was bashing my head trying to figure out why it wasn't working.
Just to be clear to get the starter to work I need to, for now twist the Pink and Tan/Red wires correct?
 
Yes, that passes the 12volts from Key in START to the starter relay in engine bay

Doesn't work. Still nothing
This is with a new starter that I've already taken to Autozone to test and it worked fine there
 
Would I need to tie in the red and white as well?
 
Thinking about it, would it be any issue if the engine was from an 01 Explorer?
 
No, on the engine
As long as its the same 2006 computer/cluster and wiring harness twisting those wires together should work

Key on, all dash lights come on and no flashing THEFT light?

If possible have someone turn the key to START while you test the pink wire for 12volts, test light or volt meter is fine
If no 12volts then check fuse 21 in cab fuse box

I assume you have not hooked up the Clutch switch, which would disconnected the pink wire at DTR


The starter relay in engine fuse box is Grounded by PATS(via computer), which is in the Cluster in 2006
Without that ground then no starter motor activation
But long shot if you are just swapping auto to manual trans, that wouldn't effect PATS

Since the Computer is involved with grounding the starter relay its possible it wants to see Park from the DTR but never ran into that
And this would also activate REV limiter, which would be bad for driving, lol

What red/white wire?
 
The dash lights up fine, only the airbag light flashes. I can test the pink wire here in a moment, have to find my voltmeter
The harness did come with the engine however
