OK what are some do's and don't for removing and replacing your front windshield your self and getting a replacement from a junkyard ?¿? Special tools needed how long will it take and where can I get stuff I won't get from a junk yard? I have a 97 xlt

They can be very difficult to get out without breaking them. They are glued in place. If you want to do it yourself, a new windshield should not be that expensive if you have a glass place nearby.

yeah.....not likely to pull one used.

i just pay to have it done. which is why its so hard to see out of my window at night in the rain....that and i am old now.

Well I helped my dad don't when I was a kid he used a piano string and the local junkyard is having a half off sale all things glass, seats and Interior upholstery. So I'm gonna give it a try.

Which JY is that? I need better seats...

they pulled mine with a wire tool and heat gun last time without breaking it worse...so it can be done.

bigger issue was rusted out areas...unseen until it tore the cable up.

I had a good friend who did a lot of master rebuilds of some awesome vehicles, this was 70's, 80's, 90's, many of his customers had auto museums.
I don't know what string he used but it was a piano
