new law has mandatory kill switch coming soon

Itll be used to enforce covid lockdowns you watch

From an article I read a few years back, they should have them already. Supposedly to stop a police chase in progress. Maybe it was just wishful thinking or something that was planned instead of actually being done.

It’s been shown that vehicles with wifi capability can be hacked already. So, it isn’t a stretch to have a “kill switch” protocol.

If they put in WiFi only kill switches, that would be OK, have to be within 200ft to activate it, or hack it
Cell frequency kill switches could be more problematic
Thieves could just carry a battery operated Cell Jammer to steal vehicles like they do for LoJack or OnStar

I think i need to find me a well preserved dent or bull F series and park it in the barn, and start hoarding parts.

Gonna push it everywhere after they shut the gas off?

Hey...

Bumps are nice too, even if this one don't fit the well preserved description.

I need to get back on the parts hoarding part.

Convert to diesel. They're not gonna shut that down any time soon. Too much depends on it.

GM's Onstar has been able to do that for a long time.

Cant onstar be turned off? I thought it was a subscription service, and as such if you chose to not renew and quit paying for it then it would be just another useless button.

Its subscription based for the customer, but not for GM, or any of the authorities. Just because you aren't subscribed to it, doesn't mean GM couldn't activate it for the authorities.

Could you pull a fuse to disable it or did gm integrate it with other major circuits like the fuel pump or ecu? Maybe gm has their own program like fords forscan where it could be disabled? I wouldnt want it functional in any form.
