1983 Ford Ranger *4X4 *4-SPEED *RARE *ORIGINAL

They can call that Ranger a lot of things, and it looks good for its age, but "original" ain't correct.

I don't see anything that really bothers me. I dig the grill. Bumper looks like it may have come from an XLS truck, both of mine had those wings on the ends. Dash trim - meh. I don't blame them one bit for swapping that out. Looks pretty solid to me, you KNOW anyone on TRS would be swapping parts onto it.

Yeah...like a factory grille:ROFLMAO:

Haters gonna hate... I'd still have a bar grille on my F150 if it hadn't rusted out. The only thing I don't like about the Ranger ones is that you have to cut up a factory grille to make it fit.

you guys missing the best parts..... it is on a "used auto lot" and here is what the description says ..... Buyer Beware for sure....... (scroll down and read the whole thing LOL

I DO NOT KNOW IF EVERYTHING WORKS, YOU ARE BUYING A PROJECT. I BELIVE WITH LITTLE MONEY THIS CAN BE AN EXCELLENT TRUCK.

damn toss a little money at anything and you can polish a turd .........

No need for ME to scroll. That 4 spd tranny was the No-No for me. even if it's not the same one I had on my '83, you can't get on the Highway with no 5th.

Homie......... a TK-5, FM-145/146, or M5OD swap is stupid simple. These days I am FAR more concerned about a solid frame and body than I am about what drivetrain is in it... I can swap anything in.

Homie, I respect your skill, BUT I ain't about to spend $6K on an '83 Ranger, just to tranny swap it. You do You.

I understand that. Most people feel the same as you do. My point was just that there are easy options for those willing and able to do the work, it's an easy and cheap problem to overcome.

I had that '83 back in the early to mid 90's. I was in high school, and I wasn't as mechanically inclined as I am these days.

You can run 65-70 in 4th. Hell even my 460 doesnt mind 65 to much with the O/D locked out. Granted its an auto but its stil, 1:1 and thats with 4.10's.

I blew that transmission up driving from Panama City Beach to Marianna ( about 70 miles ) @ 65-70 mph. First time I rebuilt a transmission with my dad. That's when I knew I wouldn't mind paying a mechanic for his knowledge over trying to learn how to do something major for the first time. That truck never ran again while I owned it. Basically gave it to my dad and he traded it to a guy for a trailer without ever telling me. It was long gone when I found out about that deal.

My first car was a 96 corolla, 3 speed auto.

I sold it to my buddy when I was done with it, who decided it was the perfect vehicle to race an sti down the turnpike in.. pegged the speedo past 90mph and soon after the motor forgot how to make any oil pressure lol.
