Redesigned 2022 Toyota Tundra - Awesome?

The front end looks decent.

Never been a big fan of the newer Toyota trucks. Unfortunately, even in the base trim, you are always stuck with four doors, and too many standard features. Last time I looked at them I thought they only sold 4wd versions, but it looks like I was mistaken or they changed that.

Playing around on their website seems pretty completive with similar American trucks though.

Why does it seem like a lot of the new trucks have low profile tires. Dodge has been doing it for years, but it seems like now everyone else hopped on that boat.

The tires are rolling resistance..and required resistance when demanded.

I hate them. They suck where I work.

I can't drive a Toyota, I don't own sandals and refuse to shave my legs. They must be a good rig, that's why our local Toyota dealer plows their yard with a Ford Super Duty.

Why can't they do retro-style trucks from the 40s, 50s, or 60s. Aerodynamics... trucks are not meant to be aerodynamic. Otherwise, they would bring back Rancheros, el caminos, and ramparts.

I always thought that too.

Although if you look closely and really, really stretch your imagination you can see a few 92-96 Fseries styling cues in the 21+'s, atleast in my mind.

I think the new HD chebby front ends are *ever so slightly* reminiscent of the 60s trucks.

The new full size Bronco is probably the best looking retro styled vehicle anyone's made yet... mabey taking a close second to the challenger.

Im sorry but the new HD chevys are hideous. The previous gen though looked amazing

There will always be some little similarity, IMO, but the nose is twice the size they were back then. Body lines that define the trucks are gone. They are all starting to look very similar. 2022 trucks and 1965 trucks.

The interior looks phenomenal. Untouched by the Americans… And keyless entry is standard. Seems to me to be the absolute best bang for the buck for interior niceness with 4 doors.

Hard pass on that interior. Is the console just a console or is it a doghouse like a old van?

Because it looks freaking massive.

The Toyota interior I really want that is also untouched by Americans (because the darn jerks won't sell them here :temper:)

Is that comedy?

It's designed and built by Americans...

And a direct ripoff of my powerboost.

Only it gets better fuel economy and is faster

They out forded Ford finally.

I was talking about the cheapest models. It seems much more upscale per $ than the Americans. Granted you can build Ford and Chevy cheaper than Toyota, but adding double or crew cab and cruise control, it looks nicer at same price.

I kinda like the Chevy HD look. Big and brash. I like and hate it, but I think I lean toward like. Same with Lexus.

I’ve noticed that styling over the years has eliminated the front bumper since it’s an internal affair now. I think that has a lot to do with it. A bit of additional realestate to style.

I really like the Accord look. Probably the best looking front end on the road. Big grill (of course half of it is fake) but tastefull.

Of course all these massive fake grills are pretty stupid unless there’s a 9 liter V10 behind it to warrant it. I hate EVs that have fake grills.

Im not a fan of the "big and brash" look. It to me looks arrogant and overstated....you know...like the dude with flatbill cap, tatted arms, tapout shirt and connor mcgregor beard....youre tryin to hard to look tough.

No....i prefer the "quiet guy in the corner" more understated look....nothing over the top, normal sized grilles, headlights, whatever....just letting their record speak for itself.

I sat in a Tundra today. All the plastic felt cheap… meaning the whole interior. All the leather and soft surfaces are wrapped around plastic, and I could feel the cheapness of the plastic underneath. That’s really the only complaint. It didn’t feel cramped at all. It’d really be a price/performance/amenity comparison with the F150 (once the new engine becomes proved of course). The Tundra wins on a bunch of gadgets, but the F150 has its gadgets too.

A big winning thing about the Tundra is the window still armrest thing. It’s the most comfortable armrest I’ve experienced in a vehicle. That’s a biggy for me. 98% of vehicle armrests are just cosmetic for tall folk.

360 camera was pretty bangin too.

I really wanted a newer F-150 for a long time until we test drove a newer one for awhile.

I could not get comfortable. Window sill was too high, armrest was too low, full length console lid was too low. Console also impedes my legroom. Seat needed more cushion, electric power steering was overboosted (me semi used to old farm equipment kept automatically oversteering it trying to find the limits of the slop in the steering because I wasn't getting any feedback)

Had to run my son an hour away to the dentist, hands down I took my old crusty 190k mile 2002 F-150 instead. And it was bliss.

I kept my comments to myself and made the wife drive it back. Halfway in she was fussing she couldn't get comfortable.

I am not super tall, 6'-3" isn't exactly short though. They sell like hotcakes though so we are probably just weird.

I am not a fan of the catfish front end on cars now. Not the huge front end on trucks but I guess they are there to absorb impacts and lessen injuries? I don't know, I like the front end on my old 85 f150 I had back in high school.
