Ate at a local diner in the next county up tonight, saw a flier for a antique tractor show- for next weekend!, and the “featured” brand is allis-chalmers. Not sure if Id take my C (which is quite common, and mine isn’t exactly mint or correct paint) or take the less often seen 1963 ford 2000. cant take both, unless I were to make 2 trips, would be neat to take the ford for the tractor pull since it has the larger 48 hp 172 engine (instead of the original 30 hp 134) though pull classes are done by weight not horsepower classes, the 2000 weighs in at just over 3,000# unballasted. At any rate its nice to have somwhere to go this year, even if Im a spectator, only thing Id not like about being a exibitor would be having to be there daily, buy a membership and the transport there and back with todays fuel prices.

Gotta pay to play. I enjoy going to tractor shows occasionally.

at least its not too far away, about 15 miles I think. Theres one in a small village about 5 miles from me in the fall, I might drive the tractor there, the ford has a decent 18 mph road gear. The allis however goes about 7 mph top speed. It took 2 hours to make the drive from where I stored it 2 years ago to where I live now, didnt have a trailer then. Heck for the fall one near me I should put the a/c on the trailer & pull it there with the ford. lol.

Parade and show today, tractor ride tomorrow!

The one I went to last weekend was rather small but given the rain forecast (that never did happen) Im not surprised. I shoulda took my C there, was only one there and it was painted purple ( I know, wth?) And you thought mine was “ruined” with cream wheel centers and hood stripe. Saw a I.B. there, first one id ever seen, a few wd’s a much newer 6040 mfwd and various other brands, only 2 fords, both 2N’s, one painted like a 8N , one done right with the dark grey. Got my grille guard on the 2000, not only does it look good but it gives me a front tie down location. Another show is coming up in a few weeks, it’s usually sizeable. Wish I had a bigger trailer and tow vehicle, Id take both tractors. I’ll probably take the ford, think their featured make this year is IH.

Did the most local show to me last weekend, parade through town too. wont be doing another until I get a different trailer, mine is just too deteriorated to be hauling a 3,000 pound tractor. The featured brand this year at this show was oliver and my dad won a pedal tractor that he gave to my grandson, Carson. I picked up a 3-point blade in the area too, not in the best shape but certainly better than a shovel.

You guys make me jealous at times, my soul belongs in a more rural place, but this semi-metropolitan area is my home, and the weather is nice. Its a long drive to find any cool events like traxtor shows pulls anytbing really.

Don't get too used to it. Most governors across the nation are already talking about another lockdown due to the delta variant...

Just went to the local tractor thing today, it's two weekends but they did it earlier than normal so I didn't go the first weekend, just got to the last day. The parade is kinda slow and boring and mostly has the really old stuff like steam tractors and stuff, but it's at a museum area, they have a swap meet in the back that is nearly worth admission... we take a yard wagon to the swap meet, I filled it for like $50... got a 5' chain wrench for $10, two pipe clamps for $5, new pick axe handle for $10, box with a mid size 3 jaw puller for $8 and various other goodies...

I enjoy tractors but the parade and show tractors have all of the working stuff removed normally so they're not even usable, just for looks... Hopefully the tractor pull that's somewhat local in September is going this year, that's more interesting, I like blatant exhibition of horsepower :), maybe I'll take the Ranger this year, see how the traction bar holds up...

Id of loved to have entered the tractor pull but my tractor (ford 2000) has been repowered with a engine that would normally be in a 4000 series, its a 172 instead of a 134. 48 hp instead of 30. and one of the upgrades from a 2000 to 4000 is the rear end, don’t want to be spitting out spider gears. My rear tires are not fluid-filled so maybe Id spin tires before breaking anything, dont want to chance it though.

Tractors is goes clackkity clank putttt puttt clanky derrr

I thought the 172 was the 3000 engine, maybe not in that body style... I was sure the 201 is the 4000 engine, my brother has two 4000's, a 4600, a 7000, 8600 and a 9000... only had the head off one of the 4000's and it measured to the 201 bore size, that engine runs ok, low compression and the bearing between input and output shaft is FUBAR... The other 4000 is select-o-speed (that still works, so he's being nice to it, it was cheap...), the 4600 works good if he adds a little bit of "Diesel Kleen" to the fuel, otherwise the injector pump gets mad...

there was a “early” series of the 4000 and a later series, the mid sixties versions were different from the ones in the early 70’s. I know very little about the other later series.
