Can you tell me where to find the VIN on a 90’s and older ranger other than on the dash and door panel. I’m having quite the problems with one I just bought and need to confirm the VIN. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give thanks

Specifically a 87 & 90

I can't think of where another one would be but the VIN on the dash would be tough to change and a door would be easy. If they're different I'd trust the dash.

Yep, trust the dash Vin, it is the one that matches the cab. If you need a second verification for some reason, the inspection station should know how to handle it. Sorry, but it’s been brought up before that it’s best not to discuss things that could be used for criminal means.

Don't some manufacturers stamp the firewall ? Just a thought. Welcome to the club.

See if the truck still has the small aluminum "buck tag" stapled to the radiator core support. Most I've seen are on the front driver side of the core support. Pic of one on a 1990 Ranger:

The partial, but key data VIN, is the longer number on the lower right.

R10 is a Ranger, LUB68776 is the last part of the VIN, by the way.
My uncle worked at a GM dealer for 40+ years and a guy brought in an old Vette he'd "restored" for NH inspection. The car passed inspection but the VIN didn't match the registration so he questioned the owner. The guy got 3 VIN tags out of the glove box and asked if it was one of those. He apparently cannibalized several cars and lost track of which one he to register. Swapping VINs isn't acceptable behavior with our DMV.

My mustang has no vin numbers, I had it inspected once and everyone at the DMV basically just shrugged and said screw it you pass. :dunno:

Early Mustangs had the VIN on top of the left front inner fender.

Yea all that was replaced so no VIN.

Very common, scares away a lot of buyers though. No way to prove whose car it is or what it was originally.

If it has the original transmission and assuming it's a C4, the VIN is stamped on top of the case at the rear. In NH you'd have to go through the composite/homemade vehicle process and the state would issue a VIN.

Pull up the carpet on the passenger side and see if the build sheet is still there. It's just a piece of paper but it will have the VIN or partial VIN number on it.
