And have a read here for some answers to the 351 engine questions: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/V8Conversions.shtml

Yes you will need a dual sump, problem is....."1980's Crown Victoria police cars are the only vehicles with a 351W that use the dual sump oil pan"

The article also has info on the exhaust manifolds that will work, maybe

The 302 is a tight fit, need an extra 1.25" on each side for a 351w, which means steering shaft and heater box issues

I am drawing a blank on who exactly has done it but I know outside the frame headers have been done.

Welcome to TRS! I am about an hour SE of Omaha.

Well I was planing on removing heater box i dont really plan on driving it in the winter dont really want it to rust the ranger is a Arizona truck so it dont have any rust at this point and of the steering box not sure on that yet maybe seeing if I can fab it up on the other side of the rale or what if I put a small body lift on it and made the motor sit a little higher with different mounts

That 1990 f150 351w already has a rear sump oil pan. So you should be good to go with that, instead of having to buy a dual sump pan. It will have the rear dipstick tube and be already setup properly.

I have been reading if you use the truck transmission that comes with the 351w, that you might need a body lift to clear the bellhousing. The trucks used the larger flywheel and that had a larger bellhousing, even though the bolt pattern is the same.

The fox Mustang 351 oil pan Ford Performance sells is the same as the early 80's Crown police car pan, I got the pan at Carlisle used and bought a new Crown vic pick up tube. I used exhaust manifolds with C6AZ part numbers- 66 Galaxie 289- but I'm pretty sure Mustang 289 hipo manifolds would work, too. I found out too late that T Bird and Explorer front drives are shorter than the fox body stuff I used. On a 351 you'll need to buy the Ford Performance left side bracket because of the higher deck height, it's about $90 and is made in Taiwan so expect to spend some time tweaking it to fit.

What could a guy do for motor mounts and will 302 header fit on the heads i know they won't clear fram but was gunna customize them to run outside the frame

The 351w uses the same motor mounts as the 302. If you look in the tech library on this site the have several options for motor mounts for a 302.
