I avoided my wife's family gathering, not because I dislike her family in general, but because I seem to be unable to not start fights with her one sister lately.

Instead I went hunting with my dad and uncle.

Thanks for Good Neighbors.
Somehow the word got out that the wife and I were not doing Thanksgiving this year, neither one feeling like going to that much trouble. Around 11 o'clock a neighbor showed up with complete meals for both of us. A little while later, another, and another, and another. We hardly know these neighbors, as we keep mostly to ourselves. Guess we have more to be thankful for than we realized.
