Is there anywhere to purchase Frame repair sections for a 1987 Ford Ranger STX - Rear section is in Dire need of repair around the rear spring harnesses on both sides. The frame is rusted thru on both sides behind the harnesses, I bought new harnesses but not sure how to patch the frame and make it sturdy again. Thx.

You'll have to make your own patch panels as far as I know. I've never seen any frame repair panels for sale online.

If worse comes to worse, and you ever decide to part it out, I may be interested in your doors and some other parts.

i would find a metel fab shop that has a plate bender and could make inserts to go inside the rails and extend from good to bad metal area then bolt the insert to the existing rail , weld anew section over top of the insert to make the rail like original . I have done this with highway trucks , it passes DOT inspection.

Nope. Scrap it and sell me the doors if they have wing windows. lol

Land of Lincoln Winter liquid salt - other than this, the truck is in beautiful shape. I have quite a bit invested in Engine, Trans, front suspension, and body.

Does anyone know, if you can convert, a 2wd Ranger Extended Cab to a 4wd Ranger Extended Cab with a 4 wd donor of the same year ? In this case it is a 1987 Ford Ranger XLT in excellent condition. The donor is the 1987 Ext Cab I have sitting in the garage literally rusting apart. I was hoping that it would just be swapping components between frames like the front components and a couple of parts off the rear end like the Blocks on the springs, the sway bar etc.
Any feedback would be appreciated, I really feel like I could make an excellent truck if it is worth the effort. Thanks

Yeah....you will have that.

Wrap it in 10 ga or back half it....or so what was said in the other thread.

This is how I repair the frame out back.

Why not score some Bronco II doors, don't they all have wing windows? Several rust free in local salvage yards around here ('Bama), cost a bundle to ship though.

Have you checked the local junk yards for extended cab frames?
