Personally, I would buy a whole new clutch, throw out bearing and pre-bled master/slave system to make sure everything is ready to use for a long time. I know that costs more. But it saves you doing all the same work again later and you will know that your hydraulic fittings will be compatible with each other.

You need a line for an 86 or 87.

But, as you are going to find out soon, the 145 is shorter than the 146, your transmission crossmember is going to be out of place and your driveshafts are not going to fit properly. And I don't think the 91 frame as all the correct holes to relocate the crossmember.

I don't know if you can get a pre-bled system for the 145.

Its not like the 146 and M5OD with a quick connect and check valve. It has an open ended line that goes into the top of the slave, and once you pop the line all the fluid runs out.

Oops.

My bad.

I'm probably one of the last people still regularly active here that has first hand experience working on almost every factory configuration of these trucks.

The clutch is new, pressure plate, throwout bearing, flywheel, slave cylinder, is all new but then the fm146 in it ate half the gears and the only transmission i could find was a fm145 i bought a whole parts ranger for 240 but the lines are gone, but it has the driveshafts still and everything else

Could i swap the bellhousing from the 146 to the 145 and have the line on the side

Try it and report back. You have nothing to loose but time.

It a be later this week before i try it ill report back on the results might be able to help someone else with the results

I'll be interested to see if it works. I have occasionally wondered about it, but never had an example of each transmission out at the same time to experiment with.

I am under the impression that the 145 and 146 bellhousings can be swapped. I think you can also bolt your new slave cylinder to your 145 in that case and keep the quick connect style fitting. It's been a while since I've worked on one of those but if I remember right, the slave cylinder hose connection from the FM146 won't fit through the FM145 bellhousing, right?

Your right the fm145 housing doesnt have a hole for the quick disconnect but the fm146 does so im a go that route

right i got the trans in i just bought the throwout bearing for the fm145 and my driveshafts worked for it because they have a flexible part in them but now i cant find a line for it, its the slip on type
