Stalling on deceleration?


The reason i didnt chase injectors in the first place was due to the mounds of other issues ive had along the way. Now i seem to have the ignition/EGR issues sorted out this hurdle seems to be the last, but its proving to be a big one.

I have tried unplugging the MAP, it wont even run. It floods out, sounds like its got a 2 step, and then dies.

When i first started driving this truck i remeber it had a miss that was very noticiable under load. One day i was taking off up a hill and then it smoothed out and was fine ever since. Im wondering if it was a failed injector at that point that came back online and is now totally dead.

No i havent. But thats a damn briliant idea i wish ida thought of. Just listen for click click right?

I turned the TB screw, like 1/2 turn. It made it not run like shit anymore but i can tell its still not right, lol. Band aid at best.
 
If this is starting to move in the direction of suspect injectors I would pull the rail and inspect it BEFORE ordering injectors. The 2.9 fuel rails have been known to rust internally and clog the injectors.

I know externally the rail is very rusty. Way more rusty then the rail on rusty #1. If i do do injectors whats the best way to clean the rail? Ill prolly use rusty #1s rail and upper plenium (both seem to be in 100x better shape then whats on mine now).
 
when i did a top end rebuild on my 87 2.9 this summer every injector screen was full of rust. I still don't know how it ran at all. The rail was soaked in rust inhibitor for days and after it finally dried i still got puffs of rust with a air compressor. Injectors are easy to rebuild, there is a thread here somewhere.

It's the ethanol. They did it before that, but the rate increased drastically once E10 became the norm.

I mean, this truck was last tagged by the previous owner in 06....it putted around his golf course but no idea how long itd sat dorment before i got it. I think i owe it to myself to look into this further...

I originally thought that to. Untill i changed the fuel filter after 2500 miles and quite a few tanks of fuel and i was able to blow thru it as easy as the new one.

Granted...im not sure what the pick up sock looks like....

I used to work with a guy who picked up a B2 that had been sitting for a while, and he brought it in to do something one day, and when he was done it wouldn't start. It sat at work for a month while he thought it was head gaskets, until I went a looked at it, and he was getting no spark, because the TFI crapped out (he knew next to nothing about 2.9s and I was the resident expert on them). I threw him my spare TFI, and it started but ran like crap, so he went right back to head gaskets. Well we pulled it in, he started tearing the top end down, and I pulled his fuel rail off. All 6 injectors were plugged and the rail ran red when we put it in the solvent tank.

Our shop foreman gave him a spare rail he had sitting around and it ran great for a few more months until he feet fell through the floor on the way to work one day.

Floorboard rust never stopped me. You should see my 77.

That being said i kinda suspected it had injection issues since day one, since one day it just magically began running better after i drove it for a few dags whrn i first put it on the road.

Im thinking that could be the issue it idles rough. Not, like dead cylinder rough but like carb way out of whack rough (if it had a carb).
