My credo
I need more sleep.
During my way home my power steering went out making it very hard to steer. Eventually after driving around it finally came back and hasn't acted up since, any idea what this was or if its a problem that will come back?

My bet is you'll be replacing the steering rack, not the pump.

If it's a 4wd, I'd also suspect an outer CV joint, especially if it went POP and then steering returned to normal.

Air bubble?

It was being shaken after going off road, so that might be something.

It's 2WD, I had to replace one of the tie rod ends so far.
