This is kind of an urgent question, as I need to get this done BY 4 PM!

That said, I bought some mustang seats from a guy, ONLY $100 and in GREAT SHAPE!

But I'm not sure how to go about "swapping the tracks"?! If looks as if when I take the tracks off the Ranger Seats, they'll be too WIDE when tried to mount back in the stock position!

I'm just REALLY NOT SURE how to do this! Here's some pics, if someone can guide me threw this... BTW, ANYONE KNOW WHAT YEAR 'STANG THESE CAME OUT OF?

HEEEEELLLLLPPPPP!!!!! :icon_confused:

Have you actually flipped the seats over and measured the mount areas? Generally, with Ford, if the seat base is flat, most of the holes are all ready there. I have had Aerostar, Mustang, F series and Escort seats in my RBVs.

Its flat... But do I just swap out the ENTIRE TRACK or what? I don't even see where the HELL it unbolts honestly! :icon_confused:

Yeah, not sure what help is needed. It's usually bolts out, bolts in. Take all the tracks off all the seats, then get your Ranger tracks pinned onto the new seats by running the front bolts in until they clear the rails but don't keep you from pivoting the tracks, then put the rear bolts in.

You will find the tracks to be quite flexible once off the seats. Most of them are like nunchucks.

I just measured the 2 bolts.... (The ones that hold the tracks on!)

It seems as if the Stang seats are a TAD longer....

as was stated, front bolts first. I have had to drill for the rear bolts before, but, usually, the holes are all ready there. Complete Ranger track swap.

Then THAT'S what I'll do! Haha... :icon_thumby:

About to dig in now! Guess u have to drill/tap?

actually, I found that the bolts were hardened enough to tap as you go, but, do that before the tracks. is easier to see, and use a little bit of oil.

So I should take the tracks COMPLETELY off while doing all this?

Separate from the ACTUAL mounting ****???

Well.... I did as y'all said and just DUG IN! I bolted the front two bolts in there FIRST and then looked at the back.

They are a tad longer than tthe Mustang seats and the seats from the mustang are a LITTLE wider. So I had to make my OWN "connector wire" from the Mustang seats to hook up on the Ranger tracks!

Also, I obviously had to drill a hole, and I did as said... Just let the bolt tap it out. It locked down hard!

What do y'all think?

EVERYTHING is off!!! Why? Well, because mustang seats are WAY wider! DUH!

What.The. ****. :annoyed:

Hmm. Those would have to be from a fairly new Mustang, as the older ones have always bolted in/on. look at the trim plates on he side of the seats. take one off and look for a part number. THAT will tell you what year those seats started being used. E=8, F=9, G=00

As was said, MOST of the seats are a direct fit on the tracks...but sometimes you need to do slight modifications...and, as you've found out, those front bolts don't directly line up...

But, you can always just drill new front holes (if the back ones line up) and brace them with washers or other metal (usually under the floorboards needs it more than above). Main thing is to have enough "extra" metal on both sides to prevent them from pulling out in the event of an accident.

MOT in Canada requires grade 8 bolts to secure seats to the floorboards...for a good reason. Make sure that whatever hardware you use (I know, it's a race truck) is appropriate for local laws if you do plan to have it roadworthy...

All the manufacturer provided holes are welded into the floor boards so there is extra metal around the holes (usually)...but the images show that your brackets are probably outside of that area if you should decide to drill the floor to mount them...if you have a friend who can weld you may want to take that extra step and have some support metal welded around the hole...like a big metal washer that will allow the bolt to sit on it to provide extra support for them.

im guessing these were out of an SN95 mustang? my dad used a set of seats out of a similar t-bird, they were a major pain to use as well. he ended up using some flat stock to run from side to side on the seat and then mounted the tracks to that. i used seats from a fox tbird, they fit way better. swap tracks and they bolt in. i imagine the fox mustangs would be the same as well.
