I looked in the library and still didn't find a clear answer, I got a line on front and rear end out of a 96 ranger, he says there 4.10's but is going to check to make sure, and is calling me back tonight, these should work in my b2 right? I just haven't seen anyone using something this new

They will work.

Make sure its a real Dana35 front and 8.8" rear, if that's what you're after... 4.10s D35s were never used on that year Ranger from the factory.

Also Ranger 8.8s such as that will have 28 spline shafts (not 31 as the Explorer does).

Was wanting to run 33's and I have 3.73 gears now, thought the 4.10 would be better, the guy was going to send me pics of them bit still hasn't

4.10 D35s were used in some '90-'92 4-cyl and 2.9L trucks, and 4.10 8.8s in some '98+ trucks (both Ranger & Explorer 8.8s). 4.10 isn't much of a jump from your 3.73s though.

4.56:1 would actually be better for 33s if you have a 4.0L (4.88:1 for those with the 2.9L).

Aren't the spring perches on the BII and Ranger positioned differently?

yes they are, good catch. i put a b2 axle in my ranger and it required moving the spring pads.there's an inch or two difference in the distance between the springs.

Well I kind of figured it was to good to be true, he only wants $100 for both front and rear springs and all

So snatch them up and sit on them until you can get the perches moved. I paid $100 for just a pair of axles and I only really needed the front one. Still have the rear waiting to get the perches moved.

i agree, get them anyways and make them work. i think ive got $300 wrapped up in a pair of axles alone, plus brake parts and hardware etc. $100 is a steal.

the front axle isnt exactly ideal either, it will have the hybrid center chunk. but like i said, for the money....

Still waiting for him to send me the picks but I think you guys are right, can the ring gear and pinion from a hybrid work in a normal d35? If that's what it is

You can take the 3rd member off a Hybrid and put it on any 35 beam.

no, the hybrid is basically a d28 R&P in a d35 housing. the beams, ujoints and bearings are all the bigger d35 stuff. the innermost shaft on each side is d28 sized splines with d35 sized ujoints.

AFAIK, a true 4.10 d35 will only come out of 90-92 rangers. either a 4cylinder 4wd or a 2.9 auto supercab. my donor was the latter.
