My 92 started pouring antifreeze and just got to taking the engine apart to find its shooting out from my intake gasket. The gasket is pretty beat up haha.

Oh freaking swell. Another dirty little secret about the 4.0 How can I prevent this from happening to the Rat? What is the time and price for parts for this? I know, price is prolly not too bad. Time depends upon too many variables to worry about. :D

Yeah I went to advanced autoparts I bought the kit and the valve cover gaskets as well. Getting the intake ready to put the gaskets on now:D

What, gaskets can go bad is a "dirty little secret"? That is a possibility on ANY engine. It can't really be predicted either, just keep up with normal maintenance.

Yeah I agree. I had been trying to track this leak forever until the day it decided it wanted to just spout out of the back of my engine. Last place I would of thought to check...

Maybe it is possible with any engine , but I have been wrenching on all sorts of cars for 50 yrs and I have yet to have to replace an intake manifold gasket because it was leaking. :D

I've done them lots. Windstars, Escapes, F-series, none of those have 4.0s. I hear the Chevy 3.1 and 3.8L engines were horrible for the intake gaskets going bad.

You got that right! Don't forget the 3.4 and all 3 generations of the 3.8. I've even done a few of the new 3.5s and 3.9s.

Junk-ass GMs!
